Clear rules on hostel direct collections, online processing, and reservation payments.
Payments you collect yourself
Bank transfer, Mobile Money, cash, or other direct hostel payment methods. Record them in HMS and student balances, history, and records update.
No transaction fee on payments you collect yourself.
Reservation payments
HMS-facilitated reservations are subject to a fee based on the accommodation price. Applicable fees are confirmed during onboarding.
Reservation fees are separate from the annual license.
Online accommodation payments
Students can pay through HMS, balances update, and a receipt is generated where receipts are enabled.
HMS-facilitated online payments are subject to a service fee based on payment volume. Higher payment volumes may qualify for lower marginal rates. Applicable fees are confirmed during onboarding.
Payment gateway and provider charges are separate and confirmed during onboarding.

How is pricing decided?
Pricing is decided based on your bed count as the default tiering. However, a hostel with more complex operations (such as multiple properties, advanced reconciliation, or specialized workflows) may be placed in a higher plan.
What does the setup fee cover?
Setup is more than a website: it covers complete HMS and website configuration, branding, domain setup, rooms, beds, pricing, payment setup, admin accounts, applicable data import, testing, training, and launch support.
Is the setup fee paid every year?
No. The setup fee is a one-time fee paid at onboarding. The platform license is billed annually on a 12-month basis.
Do you take a cut of the rent I collect myself?
No. There is no transaction fee on payments you collect yourself. Direct bank transfers, cash payments at your front desk, and direct Mobile Money transfers recorded into HMS incur no fee from MiStarStudio.
When do fees on payments apply?
Fees on payments apply only when HMS facilitates online payments or reservations. Applicable fees are confirmed during onboarding.
Who pays payment gateway charges?
Payment gateway and provider charges are separate from MiStarStudio fees and are confirmed during onboarding.
Can I upgrade as my hostel grows?
Yes. Start with the level of operational support your hostel needs today and upgrade as your operation grows.
What if I need something HMS doesn't do?
Custom work—such as new modules, new allocation logic, custom integrations, or specialized reporting systems—is separately scoped and quoted before work begins.
Is the domain included?
Domain setup is part of your setup. Domain registration and annual renewal costs are charged separately.
